If you've successfully downloaded the Metadata Plugin, you should have a file called metadata.root.

Put this file into the apps folder in the Guest Databases folder of your Frontier installation.

Start up Frontier and open metadata.root.

Once you've got metadata.root open, you'll see some tables. One of them is called metaDataSuite. Expand this table so you can see what's in it. See the install script? Open it and run it. This will install the Metadata Plugin and register it with Manila. (If you're upgrading from version 4 of the plugin this script will upgrade your sites during the installation.)

The install script will check to see if you have regex (regular expressions) installed. It looks like Frontier 7.0.1 and later ship with regex already installed. For you geeks who want to manually check if you've installed regex, check to see if there's anything at system.extensions.regex in your Frontier.root

Regex is included with Frontier. It's usually in a folder called Extras. If it's not already installed, double-click on extensions.regex.fttb in the regex folder to install it.

All right, you've successfully run the install script.

Now is a good time to do a root update to make sure you have the latest updates that may not have been rolled into a new version yet. To do a root update, bring metadata.root to the front and choose Update Metadata.root from the Main menu.

You're still not done. The plugin is installed and ready to go, but it has to be enabled for each site it will be used with.

To enable the Metadata Plugin, open your Manila site in your web browser. From the Editors Only menu, choose Prefs. Now you're viewing the Prefs page. Look at your choices along the left side navigation bar. One of them is Plug-Ins. Click it.

You should see a box that you can check to enable the Metadata Plugin. Click submit.

If everything goes well, you should see a metaData option in your Editors Only menu. You're in business!

You'll want to continue in the documentation by going to Managing Meta Types. Have fun!
