How to Update the Metadata Plugin

When you do a root update, your copy of the plugin receives the latest Updates and new functionality.

Always make a backup copy of your metadata.root before you backup. That way if something doesn't work as expected, or if there's a bug that affects you, you can always roll back to the previous version.

To do a root update, bring metadata.root to the front and choose Update Metadata.root from the Main menu.

If you are updating your root to get a new macro, don't forget to run the metaDataSuite.install script afterward to make the new macro legal in Manila.

If the new release contains major changes in functionality (for example, version 3.00 contains support for static rendering) you will need to disable and then reenable the plugin after you've done your root update. The release notes for that version will tell you if you have to do this (e.g., see here).

NOTE: IF UPDATING FROM VERSION 4.x to 5.x, YOU MUST RUN metaDataSuite.install TO CONVERT YOUR META TYPES TO VERSION 5.x META TYPES!
